Open the sign-up page and create your account with Google in one click, or with your name, email, and a password. If you use email, open the verification email and confirm your address before signing in (Google sign-ups are ready right away).

The setup wizard opens automatically for every new account. Pick your language, tell DraftSEO what you want to achieve, and paste your website URL — DraftSEO scans your site to learn what it is about.

Review the site profile the scan detected — your niche, language, and target audience — and adjust anything that does not fit your business.

Confirm your content style. The writing style, tone, and reading level are pre-filled from the scan, so you can continue right away or fine-tune them first.

Keep or edit the competitor sites DraftSEO found. They arrive pre-selected, so you usually just remove the ones that do not fit or add your own.

Pick your first article idea from the keyword-based suggestions, or enter your own topic. Choosing one finishes setup and drops you on your dashboard, where your free trial credits and a short activation checklist are waiting.

Sign up for a free account with Google or an email and password — you are never asked for a credit card to start.

If you signed up with email, confirm your address from the verification link. Your free credits are not added at this step yet — they activate when you finish setting up.

Complete the short onboarding setup wizard, where you tell DraftSEO about your website and pick a first topic. Finishing the wizard is what unlocks your free trial credits.

As soon as the wizard finishes, your account switches to the free trial and your 5 free article generations are added automatically — you do NOT need to connect your website or Google Search Console first.

Open your dashboard and check your balance. Each generation option shows its credit cost, so you can spend your free credits on your first articles right away.

Use the finish-setup checklist to go further when you are ready — view your first article, connect your site, turn on Autopilot, or connect Search Console. These are optional and are not required to receive your credits.

Open the Generate tab from your dashboard.

Enter your target keyword (the search phrase you want to rank for) and a title. You can type the title or use the Generate Title button to draft one from your keyword.

Pick a content length and an AI model. Each length and model shows its credit cost, and a live credits preview tells you what the article will cost before you generate.

Optionally set the language, target country, and who you are writing for — or leave the sensible defaults in place.

Click Generate and watch the progress tracker as the article is written.

Review the finished article in the built-in editor, make any edits, then publish it to a connected site or export it.

Essentials: enter your target keyword and a title (or use Generate Title to draft one), choose the AI writing model — each option shows its credit cost — and optionally file the post into a folder. A live credits preview shows the total before you generate.

Advanced: shape the writing with the article language and target country, the article type (such as How-to, Listicle, Comparison, or Ultimate Guide), the writing style, tone, reading level, how thoroughly the draft is cleaned up, and the overall length. Some article types and the longer lengths are only on higher plans.

Audience: optionally describe who you are writing for so the wording and examples fit that reader (available on higher-tier plans).

Media: switch on images to have DraftSEO create and place pictures — you pick the image model (each shows its credit cost, and one option is free), how many, the style, size, alt-text, and an optional brand name. You can also embed YouTube videos and choose the media layout.

Structure: choose an opening hook and toggle which elements appear — subheadings, lists, tables, a conclusion, emphasis, quotes, a key-takeaways box, and an FAQ. A custom-instructions box (higher plans) lets you add your own writing directions.

Enhancements: expand internal and external linking, web research with citations, social syndication, scheduling, and auto-publishing to a connected site — then submit to start generation.

Open the Bulk tab from your dashboard navigation.

Build your list, one row per article, with a target keyword and a title for each. You can add rows one at a time, paste a keyword/title list, or import a CSV or spreadsheet (download the template first), and auto-generate titles from your keywords.

Set the generation settings once, in the form below the rows — model, length, images, publishing target, and more. These apply to every article in the batch.

Optionally assign a destination folder so the whole batch lands together and is easy to find afterward.

Choose to generate now or schedule the batch for later, then start it.

Review the confirmation summary — it shows the per-article cost, the total credits the batch needs, and your balance before and after, and it blocks you if you are short — then confirm and track progress on the Posts page.

On the Generate form, find the two optional switches: Deep Web Research and External Linking. Flip on either (or both) to add it to the article you are about to generate.

Turn on Deep Web Research to have DraftSEO run a real-time web search on your topic before it writes, so the article draws on current information instead of the model's memory alone.

Tune the research: set a time window, choose all sources or news only, pick a search purpose, set how many sources to pull, and choose a search country and language independently of your article's own language.

Optionally add preferred or excluded domains, choose an in-text citation style, and decide whether to include a references list. After generation, the sources DraftSEO used appear as a Research Sources card on the article.

Turn on External Linking to automatically add outbound links to authoritative websites. These are inserted after the text is written, so they attach to real terms already in your article.

Control the links: choose a link density, cap links per paragraph, set preferred or excluded domains, decide whether links open in a new tab, and optionally add a short contextual introduction before links.

Open one of your generated articles on a desktop screen. The Content Score panel is docked to the side of the article view as a small collapsible tab you can expand.

Expand the panel and run the score. DraftSEO pulls the pages currently ranking at the top of Google for your keyword and uses them as your benchmark.

Read your overall score. It combines on-page SEO signals with GEO (AI-answer readiness) signals into a single number with a plain-language grade.

See how you compare to the competitor median — not an arbitrary target. Word depth, headings, keyword placement, images, and links are all measured against the middle of what the top-ranking pages actually do.

Work through the suggested terms and the "where to gain points" list, which highlights the topics your competitors cover that your draft is missing and orders fixes by how many points each can add.

Optionally fine-tune which ranking pages you are measured against, then edit your article and watch the score update live as you type. Content Score is free to use on every plan.

Open a finished article from your Posts page. It opens in DraftSEO's built-in editor, where you can read and revise it in place.

Click Edit to change the article directly — rewrite copy, restructure headings, adjust formatting. Save when you are done; your edits also auto-save as you work.

Use the Copy button to copy the fully formatted article to your clipboard, then paste it into a document or your CMS with headings, lists, and links intact.

To download a file, open the Export menu in the article toolbar and pick a format: HTML, plain text (.txt), or Markdown (.md).

For HTML, choose a single self-contained file or a complete ZIP that bundles the article's images so it works fully offline.

To export several articles at once, turn on Select mode on the Posts page, tick the ones you want, and download them together in one ZIP as HTML, text, or Markdown.

Open the connect wizard. Every "add a site" path — the dashboard button, the site switcher, and the finish-setup card — leads to the same /connect wizard.

Pick the platform your site runs on from the grid of tiles. A green check marks any platform you already publish through, and there is a box to tell us if yours is not listed.

Complete that platform's connect step, which opens on its own screen: install and link the WordPress plugin, paste an API key or token, or sign in securely with the platform.

Your first site is free to start — it becomes your trial site, with its own credit balance seeded with your free trial credits, and no card required.

Each additional site is its own paid seat with its own monthly credits. Adding a paid site is charge-before-connect, so the wizard shows a short checkout first and continues once payment clears.

A site connects to one platform at a time. After you connect, a success screen makes the new site active in the top switcher and points you to keyword research, Autopilot, or your dashboard.

In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin, search for "DraftSEO", and click Install Now on the DraftSEO Publisher result. A WooCommerce store IS a WordPress site, so WooCommerce sellers use this exact same plugin.

Click Activate once installation finishes. A new DraftSEO menu appears in your WordPress admin sidebar.

In WordPress, go to DraftSEO → Settings and click "Connect with DraftSEO.ai". You are redirected to DraftSEO to authorize (log in if prompted), then sent back automatically — there are no API keys to copy or paste.

Confirm the green "Connected" status. The same site now also shows up inside DraftSEO under Profile → Integrations.

To publish while you generate, turn on the "Publish to WordPress" toggle on the Generate page, pick your site, category, and author, and choose Draft or live, then generate.

To publish an existing article, open it and use its WordPress section — or "Update on WordPress" to push fresh content to a post you already published. In Bulk generation, enable "Publish to WordPress" per article to post a whole batch as each one finishes.

In DraftSEO, open the Shopify section (in your Integrations settings or the Connect wizard), choose Add Store, enter your store's myshopify.com address, and click Connect. Shopify publishing must be included in your plan.

You are redirected to Shopify to approve the app and grant it permission to manage your blog and upload files. Grant the file permission so body images can be hosted on your store, then you are sent back with the store connected.

Choose a default blog for new articles, and optionally run the connection test to confirm the store is healthy.

To publish an article, open it and choose Publish to Shopify, then pick the store, the target blog, Draft or Published, the author and tags, and whether to set the featured image. Publish now or schedule it for later.

Or turn on auto-publish when you generate the article, so it publishes to the connected store the moment it finishes.

Your images stay on your store: the featured image is hosted by Shopify and body images are uploaded to your store's Files library, so the published article never links back to DraftSEO.

In your Wix account, open the API Keys Manager at manage.wix.com/account/api-keys, click Generate API Key, and give it a name such as "DraftSEO Publisher".

Under Permissions, enable Wix Blog, then generate the key. Wix emails you a verification code; enter it, then copy the token — it is shown only once, so copy it before closing.

Find your Wix Site ID: open your site's dashboard at manage.wix.com and copy the ID that appears in the address bar right after /dashboard/.

In DraftSEO, open your Integrations settings (or the Wix tile in the Connect wizard), add a Wix connection with a label, and paste in your Site ID and API key. DraftSEO verifies the key with Wix and stores it encrypted.

Open an article and publish it to Wix. In the dialog, select your Wix connection, set Draft or Published, choose whether the URL slug comes from the keyword or the title, toggle the featured image, and optionally add tags and a category.

Publish now or schedule it. DraftSEO uploads the article and its images to your Wix Media Manager and gives you a "View on Wix" link. To update a published post, reopen the publish action — it becomes Republish and overwrites the existing Wix post.

In your DraftSEO Integrations settings (or the Connect wizard), click Connect Webflow Account on the Webflow card.

Sign in on Webflow's authorization screen and approve DraftSEO's access. Every site you authorize is connected back to DraftSEO automatically.

Back in DraftSEO, expand your connected Webflow site and choose the CMS collection to publish into (for example, Blog Posts). That collection needs a name field, a slug field, and a body field.

Open a finished article and choose Publish to Webflow. Confirm the site and collection (you can override the default per post) and set the author, tags, category, and featured image.

Pick the post status: Draft keeps the item unpublished in Webflow for review, or Published pushes it live to your site immediately.

Submit to publish. DraftSEO uploads your images into Webflow's asset library, creates the CMS item, and publishes it if you chose Published. Later edits republish to the same item, and you can turn on auto-publish or scheduling for future posts.

In your Ghost admin, open Settings → Integrations (under Advanced settings), add a new custom integration, and name it something like "DraftSEO".

In that integration, copy the two values Ghost shows: the Admin API Key and the API URL.

In DraftSEO, go to Profile → Integrations, find Ghost, and paste in the Admin API Key and API URL, then connect. DraftSEO verifies the credentials against your Ghost site before saving.

To publish an article, open it and choose Ghost as a publish target. Decide whether it goes out live or saves as a draft in Ghost, and optionally set the author, tags, and featured image.

Publish it — or use Republish later to push edits back to Ghost.

To skip the manual step, turn on Ghost auto-publish while generating an article, or schedule the post to go live at a future date and time.

Make sure your Squarespace site is on a paid plan. The free/Personal tier will not run the custom code the embed needs, so posts would not display.

In DraftSEO's Integrations settings, create a Squarespace blog embed: give it a name and enter the URL of the Squarespace page where your blog will live. DraftSEO generates a small snippet (a div plus a script tag).

Copy the snippet and paste it once into that Squarespace page — either into a Code Block on the page, or under Settings → Advanced → Code Injection for a site-wide placement — then save.

Generate your article in DraftSEO and publish it to your Squarespace embed. Because Squarespace has no content API, publishing pushes the article to a DraftSEO-hosted feed that your embed reads and renders on your page.

Prefer to publish later? Schedule the article to appear on your Squarespace embed at a future date — scheduled publishing is fully supported.

Open your published page in a normal or incognito window (not the editor) to confirm your posts appear. Squarespace hides custom code while you are logged in or editing, which is the usual reason people think it "isn't working".

In DraftSEO, open the Connect flow (or your Integrations settings) and choose Lovable, Base44, or Replit. Instead of pushing posts into the builder, DraftSEO hosts your content as a live public feed your app reads.

Enter a name for your reference and your app's published site URL, then click Connect site — DraftSEO uses that URL to build your blog's links and sitemap. If your site allowance is used up, you are asked to add a site first.

Copy the build-prompt shown for your connection and paste it into your app's AI chat. The builder reads it and creates a blog index plus article pages that fetch your DraftSEO feed — no coding required. (Base44 and Replit can also import an OpenAPI spec, and all three offer a paste-in HTML embed.)

Publish or redeploy your app so the new blog pages go live. If you started from the Connect wizard, click "I've finished setup".

Back in DraftSEO, publish articles to the connected site — one at a time, or turn on auto-publish so every new article goes live as it is generated.

Your published articles now appear on your app's blog on their own. View the published site (not the builder's editor preview) to see them; new and edited posts show up within a couple of minutes.

DraftSEO publishes to many more platforms than the guides above — including Notion, Contentful, HubSpot, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, OpenCart, Blogger, and Framer — plus a custom webhook for anything else.

They all follow the same pattern: open the /connect wizard, pick your platform's tile, and complete its short connect step (an OAuth sign-in, or pasting an API key or token).

Once connected, publishing works exactly like the other platforms: publish from the Generate page, from a finished article, in bulk, or automatically with Autopilot and scheduled publishing.

On every platform, your article's images are hosted by that platform, so nothing links back to DraftSEO.

Open the Autopilot page. Autopilot is a premium, fully automated feature whose availability depends on your plan; free and trial accounts can run it once to try it out.

Connect a keyword source for the site — Google Search Console or your connected website/CMS. Autopilot only writes about keywords your site can realistically rank for, so it will not turn on without a source.

Click Start Autopilot. The on/off toggle is the only control — turning it on opens a short confirmation that shows your per-day credit cost, then Autopilot takes over.

DraftSEO researches high-opportunity, low-difficulty keywords and builds a rolling content calendar — one article per day, filling about a month ahead and topping itself back up as days are used.

Each scheduled article is generated automatically on its day and, if that site has a connected platform, auto-published to it — no manual step to write or post.

Credits are charged per day, the day each article generates, based on the quality and media settings you chose. There is no approval step, but you can edit, skip, or delete any upcoming entry, and turning Autopilot off stops it and clears the not-yet-generated queue.

Open the Keywords page and pick the site you want ideas for. The workspace is per-site, so rankings and opportunities are scoped to the domain you select.

Connect Google Search Console for that site. The workspace is Search-Console-first: until GSC is connected, the page shows a single Connect prompt. Connecting it lets DraftSEO use your real Google data to find opportunities.

Add your competitor domains on your Site profile page (the Keywords page reads them). DraftSEO uses them to find keywords your competitors rank for that you do not yet.

Let your opportunities build automatically — there are no seed keywords to type and no run button. DraftSEO refreshes your keyword opportunities on its own (a monthly refresh on paid plans; a free trial gets a one-time report).

Explore the four tabs once your data loads: Overview (a quick scorecard), Rankings (keywords each of your pages already ranks for), Opportunities (topics worth writing next), and All Keywords (your full keyword bank).

On the Opportunities tab, each topic card shows search volume, difficulty, a SERP verdict, a plain-English reason drawn from your own Search Console or a named competitor, and an estimated click gain. Use "Generate post" to open the article generator pre-filled, or pin it so Autopilot writes it next.

Open the Keywords page and select the site you want to research — this is where the Connect Search Console prompt appears.

Click Connect Search Console. DraftSEO hands you to Google's own sign-in and consent screen, requesting read-only access to your search performance data.

On Google's screen, pick the account that owns your site's Search Console property — it can be a different account from the email you use for DraftSEO — and approve read-only access.

You land back on DraftSEO with a "connected" confirmation. If the account has no verified property for this site, DraftSEO shows a wrong-account warning and a Switch account option.

Run keyword research on that site. DraftSEO pulls your real clicks, impressions, click-through rate, and average position and turns them into concrete opportunities.

Review the opportunities, each tagged with why it matters: striking-distance (quick wins already on the edge of page one), low-CTR (page-one results that under-perform), and untapped queries (searches you get impressions for but have no dedicated page yet). You can disconnect any time from the same card.

Open the finished article you want to publish — the publishing options live on the article's own view page.

In the publishing toolbar, choose the platform you want to publish to (you must have already connected that platform to your site). This opens that platform's publish options.

Switch from "Publish Now" to "Schedule for Later".

Pick the future date and time. The picker only allows a time in the future and uses your local time zone.

Set the platform's normal publish settings (category, tags, featured image), then confirm. A clock badge now marks the article as scheduled for that platform.

DraftSEO publishes automatically at the chosen time — you do not need to keep the app open. Repeat to schedule the same article to more than one platform, or reopen a pending schedule before its time to change or cancel it.

DraftSEO is billed per connected site. Each website you connect is its own seat with its own monthly credit allowance — see the pricing page for the current per-site price and credit amount.

Each site can be billed monthly or annually. Your credits refresh on your billing cycle, and each generation option shows its own credit cost in the app.

Pick a plan and open the secure checkout — from the pricing page, or from the Upgrade / View Plans button under Profile → Billing. Our payment provider, Paddle, handles the transaction.

Enter your payment details inside Paddle's checkout. Supported methods include credit/debit card and PayPal.

Optionally set a separate invoice email address on the checkout page, so receipts go to your accounting inbox instead of your login email.

Buying for a company? Tick "This is a business purchase" to reveal the business form, then add your company name, VAT number, and billing address — these appear on your invoice.

Complete the payment to activate your plan. Billing then recurs automatically on your monthly or annual cycle.

Download invoices any time from Profile → Billing: open Payment History and click Invoice on any payment to open its Paddle-generated PDF. You can also update your saved card here through Paddle's secure overlay.

Open your profile menu and go to Billing & Subscription to review your current plan, billing cycle, next payment date, and remaining credits.

To upgrade or switch tiers, use Upgrade Plan on that page to open checkout for the plan you want.

To cancel or downgrade, contact the DraftSEO support team as prompted in the Subscription Options section — they process the change for you (there is no one-click self-cancel button in the app today).

Your access is not cut off the moment you cancel: when cancellation is set for the end of your billing period, you keep full access until that date, and your account then moves to the free plan without losing your content.
